On Sunday 1st May, Titchmarsh hosted its annual 10k Road Race & 3k Fun Run. Kindly sponsored by Bulley Davey Accountants, the main event marked the 16th anniversary of what has become one of the most popular road races in the region. The race was run in sunny, but somewhat blustery conditions and over 200 competitors took to the road. Nearly 150 runners completed the tough East Northants 10km course, with Troy Garrity of the Corby AC winning in a time of 34:58.7 over 40 seconds ahead of second placed Danny Keating. The is the third time that Troy has won the race, having previously been victorious in 2002 and 2010. The first woman to cross the line was Tracy Patmore in a time of 41:32:21. The winner of the 3k race, in which 50 people participated of all ages, was won by 15 year old Tom Hemingway who completed the course in 11:24.2, closely followed by William Tremellen (11:36:69) and Ellie Welch who was the first girl to complete the course and third overall in 11:50:06. The 10k race has a UK Athletics permit and is open to all individuals and/or club runners. Water stations are provided along the way and medical facilities are on-hand. Car parking, changing facilities and refreshments are also available. The roads are closed for both events. The course takes runners out of the village and through some of the prettiest countryside the county has to offer before doubling back just before Clopton Church.
You can view the course using this Google map.
