Volunteer Car Scheme

Do you have trouble getting to medical appointments, the post office or just to a friends house? If your answer is yes then you may be interested in the Volunteer Car Scheme.

The scheme is run by The Volunteer Centre in Thrapston (tel 01832 733336), who have a register of volunteer drivers who use their own car to drive you to your destination.

Payment for mileage is made directly to the driver (current rate is 40p per mile), and the driver will wait for up to 1 hour for you, whilst you are at your destination. However, if you are attending a hospital appointment the driver will wait for up to 2 hours. You should contact the Volunteer Centre to book a driver, at least 2 days in advance of your journey.
