Rev'd Jim
Mynors has been appointed as Priest-in-charge of the new benefice of Aldwincle,
Clopton, Pilton, Stoke Doyle, Thorpe Achurch, Titchmarsh and Wadenhoe.
His Licensing service took place on Monday 16th June at Titchmarsh church,
presided over by the Bishop of Peterborough. Over 200 people from his
new and old parishes attended. It was pleasing in particular that Rev'd
Michael Whawell and John Stapleton, who have supported the church and
neighbouring parishes during the interregnum, were able to attend and
take part in the service. We were particularly grateful for Barnwell Church
choir leading the singing and enchanting us with a lovely anthem.
The service
was followed by wine and nibbles in the marquees outside the church on
what proved to be a beautiful summer's evening, and was highly successful.
Many thanks are due to the ladies of the 7 parishes who contributed the
drinks and food, and the village teams that raised and lowered the marquees
in lightning time.
Jim subsequently
met parishioners the following Saturday morning in the Clubroom, aided
by coffee and biscuits, and took his debut service at the church on Sunday
15th July with the celebration of Holy Communion. |
