May was a bumper month for events on the Titchmarsh Calendar and June is already promising much of the same.
Next Saturday, June 4th, reknowned Organ expert William McVicker will be giving a lecture entitled "T C Lewis and the Courage Brewery - the origin of St Mary's Church organ." During the course of the evening William is expected to put the organ through it's paces. The organ will soon be dismantled in preperation for the forthcoming restoration and this could be one of the last times we get to hear this wonderful instrument before it falls silent for many months. At the end of the event everyone will have an opportunity to "Sponsor a Pipe" - adding their name to a genuine piece of Titchmarsh history.
This is a project for the whole village to enjoy so please come along. The event is sponsored by the Heritage Lottery Fund and is free of charge. A bar and refreshments will be available.
Just one week later, on Saturday 11th, it will be time for the Titchmarsh Fête. Preperations for this year's event have been in the making for months, not least because June 11 is also the date of the official annual celebration of the Queen's birthday. For that reason this year's fete will have something of a 'Regal' theme with everyone participating encouraged to dress up. Expect all the usual fun and games you've come expect including (royal?) flying teddies from the church tower!
In a change to the usual order of things, the Fête marquees will not be taken down after the event. Instead they will be used for an informal evening of music, dancing & entertainment later that evening. All villagers are invited to come and join in. The evening starts at 7pm. Please bring your own food and drink.
The following day, at 9.15am on Sunday, a special All Age Service wil be held in St Mary's to celebrate Her Majesty's 90th birthday. Refreshments and birthday cake will follow.
Later that same day, between 3pm and 5pm, afternoon tea will be held in the garden of Rose Cottage on the High Street.
On Friday June 24th, the Popup Dog makes a welcome return to the Clubroom. This popular social event always pulls in a good crowd and is a great place to meet new friends and catch up again with old ones. Put it on your diary!
