A couple of weeks ago a group of villagers took a trip to Nobby's Brewery in Thrapston. The business moved to it's new home on the industrial estate behind the Plazza about 18 months ago. Since then it has very quickly established a reputation for producing some of the best beer in the region.
The owner of the business, Nobby (no really), took the party on a tour around the brewery. Over the course of almost 2 hours we were guided through the entire beer making process - from choosing the right malt, to adding the right temperature of water, to filtering and bottling the final brew. It was absolutely fascinating!
We also got to sample lots of beer...
To our surprise, beer making practices haven't changed much in hundreds of years and many recipes have been passed down through the ages. Nobby produces no-less than 28 different varieties - from dark choclatey ale to modern amber beer.
Nobby's beer is available in places such as Beckworth Emporium. It may also soon make an appearence in the village shop. If you get a chance to sample some, please do. You won't be disapointed.
