Titchmarsh Playing Field Association

Titchmarsh Playing Field is an area of recreational land situated at the south-west end of the village at the top of Park Road. The facilities include two full-size football pitches with associated changing and showering facilities; a securely fenced-off children’s playground with slides, climbing frame, swings and a balance/obstacle course; and a wide-open grassy spaces for general activities. During 2008 thanks to donations from The Football Foundation, Northamptonshire County Council, East Northamptonshire Council, the Community Aggregates Fund and the Maud Elkington Trust, the Association is building a new pavilion that will incorporate facilities for all the community to use.

The Playing Field Association was formed during the 1960s and manages the playing field on the behalf of the Parish Council.  Its primary role is to raise funds to cover the running costs of the playing field, these include grass cutting, water and electricity charges, and the maintenance of the equipment and playing areas. There is an active Committee - all volunteers who endeavour to raise funds through a variety of events in the village; the main event being the Titchmarsh 10km Road Race held annually in May. The 2008 race is the 13th anniversary of the event and, includes a separate 3km Fun run, open to all-comers from 8 upwards.  The Committee meet on the first Thursday of the month at 8pm in the Wheatsheaf, and the minutes are reproduced on this site. reproduced on this site.

Regular organized users of the Playing Field include local football teams - from Thrapston Juniors to the not-so-junior Titchmarsh FC; Titchmarsh Ladies Rounders team also use the field for their home games during the summer months. Should anyone representing a formal organization wish to use the facilities please contact any committee member, or email playingfield@titchmarsh.info

The Playing Field is a facility meant for the enjoyment of all villagers – all we ask is that the facilities are used in a responsible manner and left in a state you would wish to find them. If anyone sees any misuse of the Playing Field or the changing rooms, or wishes to report any damage please contact a committee member. A special plea is made to dog owners to ensure they clear up after their dogs.
