The Engine House is one of the old buildings
of the village believed to date back to the late 1800’s. We
intend to establish the full history of the building as part of a community
history project, and this being examined as a collaborative effort between
the Shop Youth Committee and the village’s Historical Society. While
we know that part of the building originally housed the village horse-drawn
fire engine, older residents have told us that just after the war it was
a shop
owned by a Mr Marshall Booth, selling groceries and vegetables and delivering
to Clopton and surrounding villages. This
web page will be updated as the research is completed. |
