The project is intended to reinvigorate
the local sense of community and aims to appeal to customers in the village
through a number of means;.
• Rural isolation will be alleviated specifically
for those members of our community who find it difficult, for any number
of reasons, to get out of the village independently.
• Free services such as home delivery
and collection of prescription medicines will be provided.
• Residents will be motivated to walk
to the shop in the knowledge that there will always be someone with whom
they can pass the time of day and perhaps even enjoy a cup of tea.
• The community will be more aware of
anyone who is in need of assistance.
• All members of the community will feel
the benefits of a community shop: young people able to experience the
independence of walking to the shop on an errand for a family member;
the elderly and particularly those living alone; the disabled; carers
of young children or elderly relatives; those working from home.
A facility that will be available for
customers to use will be one of reverse credit. This will allow customers
to pay a lump sum up front for their goods and draw down without needing
to have cash with them every time for purchases. Villagers will also be
able to send their children along to pick up something without needing
to give them the cash! |
